Welcome to the Provincial Priory of South Ulster website.

The full title of our Order is the United Religious and Military Order of the Temple and of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem, Palestine, Rhodes and Malta.

We are as the name implies a Christian Masonic Order. Candidates for Installation must be both Master Masons and Companions of a Royal Arch Chapter, and most importantly they must also profess the Trinitarian Christian Faith.

The Provincial Priory of South Ulster was constituted in 2005 by the Great Priory of Ireland and is the youngest Provincial Priory on the island of Ireland. Located in Northern Ireland the Priory consists of 23 Preceptories, (18 in County Down, 4 in County Armagh and 1 in County Monaghan). There are approximately 880 High Knight Templar Masons in the Province with the Provincial Priory Office situated in Galwally House, Drumkeen Complex, Upper Galwally, Belfast.i

The current High & Very Eminent Prior of the Provincial Priory is High & Right Eminent Sir Knight Frank R. L. Arnold, G.C.T. and he is the second incumbent in the Office, the first Provincial Prior being High & Right Eminent Sir Knight, S. Gordon Leathem, B.E.M. G.C.T.

H&R. Em. Sir Kt. Arnold GCT, was installed as Provincial Prior in June 2015 and he is assisted in his duties by Ronald G. Abbott, KCT, the Provincial Sub-Prior.

Meetings

The Priory meets triannually, in March, June and October with the Installation Convocation occurring triennially, the most recent in March 2023 with the next in March 2026.
